Memorial Day BBQ Lunch in Patio w/ live performance from Teri & Frankie and Band
At this year’s Memorial Day Barbecue we had perfectly cooked hamburgers, tasty barbecued chicken and grilled hot dogs. For sides we had all the sauerkraut, coleslaw, salad and baked beans one could desire. While the eating and celebrating took place our staff and residents enjoyed a live performance from the talented Teri and Frankie band. Teri and Frankie played on the piano and sang popular hits from the past 60 years. Their nostalgic music was one of the only things that could get the staff and residents to put down their perfectly grilled hamburgers and hot dogs so that they could start dancing!
At Sprain Brook Manor our goal is to not only provide the best skilled nursing and rehabilitation care, but to also provide a friendly and family focused atmosphere that promotes a healthy mind and body as well as healing. Our barbecues help us reached the this goal by giving our residents and staff an opportunity to bond, enjoy nature , eat great food and listen to lively music. The barbecues also leave our residents invigorated for the week to come so that they can focus on healing. That is why we will be having barbecues every other week at our Sprain Brook Westchester nursing home facility this summer. On the weekends in between our barbecues we will be having special catered events which are hosted by our talented and professional kitchen staff. Below is a list of our upcoming barbecues and events. We can’t wait to see you at our next BBQ or summer event so we can celebrate summer together!
Fathers Day At Sprain Brook Manor Rehab
If Mothers create the bonds that hold families together, Fathers give those bonds strength and support. On father’s day we celebrate the men in our lives that help shape us into the individuals we are today. At Sprain Brook Manor Rehab we celebrated Father’s Day with men who no doubt make a difference in the lives of their families and those around them.
At Sprain Brook Manor we are lucky to have a group of Fathers that we could acknowledge and celebrate on this special day. The recreation department along with our chef, came together to make this special holiday a memorable one. At the beginning of the day, female residents worked on an arts & crafts project, where they made specialized, painted and decorated “Father’s Day” cards. The cards were then distributed to the fathers at Sprain Brook Manor.
The residents were in for a treat when they arrived in the Main Dining Room. The tables were decorated with floral centerpieces, balloons and signs throughout the room to add character. The chef provided a specially designed menu for father’s day, which residents thoroughly enjoyed while accompanied by a live singing performance by one of our many entertainers. All of the staff and residents were so happy and honored that we could celebrate these special men that our in our lives every day.
Mother’s day has always been a special day here at Sprain Brook Manor Rehab in Westchester
Mother’s day has always been a special day here at Sprain Brook Manor Rehab in Westchester. We have a Dedication to families and an understanding that family and the love and support that comes from family is a vital part of the healing and rehab process. That is why we strive to create a loving family environment with the goal of treating our patients with the same care and compassion as if they were our mothers, fathers, brothers or sisters. It should be no surprise that Mother’s Day has always been a holiday that is very important to us as it is a time from our Sprain Brook family to come together with our patient’s families and celebrate the women who are central to all of our lives.
This year’s Mother’s Day has a special significance as it was the 100th anniversary of Mother’s Day being an officially approved presidential holiday. The holiday was founded so that Americans have the chance to express “our love and reverence for the mothers of our country” (President Woodrow Wilson, May 9th 1914). Every year At Sprain Brook Manor we want to make sure that each patient in our center has the opportunity to be with their family regardless of the patient’s current medical and rehabilitation needs and concerns. That is why we invited all of our patient’s families to RSVP to our annual Mother’s Day event
At this year’s annual Mother’s Day Family Event we had a spectacular turnout from the family, friends and the community at large. Our rehabilitation center Westchester main dining room was packed with over 120 patients and their family and friends. In addition, it was a spectacular day so patients and families could enjoy the beautiful gardens and comfortable patio at our rehabilitation center Westchester facility. The day’s entertainment included music by Teri & Frankie, a phenomenal singing duo (provided by the services of Steve Michaels). In addition, our wonderful and talented dining staff created the perfect spring brunch with a menu that included Western Style Herb Omelets, Fresh French Toast, Fresh cut Turkey Breast, Home fries, Mixed green salad, Fruit salad and refreshing Mimosas.
Our staff was so ecstatic with the turnout and positive feedback from this year’s Mother’s Day Event at the Sprain Brook Manor rehab facility that we cannot wait to try to top this year’s event next year! Thank you again to all the staff, patients, family and friends that made this year’s Mother’s Day event so special.
