How to Choose an Elder Care Giver
The first step is to determine what exactly do you or your loved one need from a caregiver. Needs can range from medical care such as medication management to self-care needs such as dressing and bathing. Create a job description/contract for prospective caregiver. This list should include what skills the caregiver should have to apply such as health care training and experience as well as expectations of care and rules to follow. Make sure to check references and complete a criminal background check. Lack of references should be a red flag especially for someone who claims they are experienced.
